Malcolm
Macleod
Malcolm
started work as an Apprenticeship Chef when he was 15 years of age. Over
the next 10 years he worked as a Chef in both New Zealand and Australia.
He returned to New Zealand in 1980 as Head Chef for the Southern Cross
Hotel.
In
the early 1980s he changed direction and moved into sales, joining Read
Motors in Dunedin as a car salesman. In 1983 he started “on the road”
travelling to Invercargill and Central Otago for a hardware company and
later with Norton NZ Ltd. He established his own company, M J Macleod
Agencies in early 1990 selling for many leading national distributors.
In
February 1995, Malcolm was diagnosed with sleepapnoea and ever since has
had a passionate interest in this sleep problem. He has talked to many
people about his experience and this interest culminated in setting up
Sleepapnoea Services Limited in 2002 to supply CPAP equipment.
Malcolm’s
knowledge of sleepapnoea is an accumulation of personal experience in
managing his own health, involvement in development of new equipment with
manufacturers, taking part in scientific studies with health professionals
and daily involvement with users of CPAP and other sleep equipment. He
shares this wealth of experience generously with all and anyone who shows
an interest in the disease is welcome to contact him.
In
the last 12 months Malcolm has served on the executive of the Sleep Apnoea
Association of New Zealand and is currently serving as interim President
until November.
Malcolm
leads an active life centred around his lifestyle property on the Taieri
and in Motorsport where he serves as an official and competes in his latest
project a Mini Cooper S. He races this classic saloon as opportunities
present and so far has raced in 2 meetings in Timaru so far this year.
This
reflects his philosophy that you live with sleepapnoea and
not to allow it to dominate your life. |
